Anne T. Kmieck

Anne T. Kmieck is an installation artist. She constructs and embroiders clothing as a form and medium to explore and expose ideas embedded in history that inform contemporary issues surrounding gender. Recent solo shows include the Galleries at Cleveland State University and the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Saint Bonaventure University in New York. Her work is seen regularly in shows throughout northeast Ohio, and she has participated in group shows in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, West Virginia, Michigan, Illinois, California, and Suzhou, China. In 2009, she was one of eight Americans to participate in a residency and exhibition with eight Chinese artists called International Art Dialogue in Chinese Gardens in Suzhou, China. She has received two Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Awards, 2015 and 2021. She holds a BFA in painting from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and an MA in art education from Case Western Reserve University. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Anne T. Kmieck currently teaches visual arts at Hawken Upper School where she is active with committees and clubs that address women’s, LBGTQ, and human rights. She resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
